01. Your Body Filed for Divorce Without Telling You.

The jeans that fit at breakfast, the word that vanishes mid-sentence, the stranger in the mirror. It isn't in your head, and it isn't just your age.

Nobody hands you the paperwork.

There’s no meeting, no warning, no sit-down where somebody walks you through the terms. One day you’re just living your life. The next, your body has quietly filed, changed the locks, and set your things out on the curb, and you’re standing there wondering when it happened and what on earth you did to deserve it.

You already know how it shows up.

You put your jeans on in the morning and they fit fine, and by dinner you’ve unbuttoned them under the table because you look and feel about three months pregnant, and you had a salad. You’re in the middle of a sentence and the word just leaves, a normal word, one you’ve used ten thousand times, and there you are pointing at it going, the thing, you know, the thing, like you’re suddenly 92. You catch yourself in the mirror one day and stop, because you don’t totally recognize her, and you think, when did that happen? Where did she go, the one who used to feel like me?

Then pile on the rest of it. You sneeze and you pee a little. You cry at a paper towel commercial. You’re furious and you couldn’t tell a single soul why. You’re hot, you’re freezing, you’re wide awake at 3 a.m. doing your taxes in your head.

Here’s what I need you to hear before you read one more word. It isn’t in your head. And it isn’t just your age. Those are the two things you’ve probably already been told, and both of them are a way to end the conversation instead of start it.

Because here’s the truth about that divorce. It isn’t really a divorce at all. It’s a communication breakdown.

Your body has been talking this whole time. Every one of those symptoms is a message, sent up flare by flare, and you were just never taught the language. That’s all a symptom is. It isn’t a random act of betrayal, and it isn’t proof that something is fundamentally wrong with you. It’s information. It’s your body leaving clues, hoping this is the time you finally notice.

You haven’t been ignoring it. Nobody ever handed you the words. You can’t answer a message you were never taught to read, and you can’t walk into an exam room and ask for what you need when no one ever gave you the language to ask for it.

So instead, you did what you were told. You cut the calories and got on the treadmill and pushed through, and your body dug in and held on tighter, and you gained weight while eating less and moving more, and somewhere in there you quietly decided the problem must be you. You tried the rigid plan you were supposed to follow to the letter or you’d failed. The one size fits all that fit nobody. The protocol that transformed some influencer and did absolutely nothing for you. And every time one of them didn’t work, the story got a little louder. Something is wrong with me.

But a body that’s actually broken doesn’t respond to anything. Yours has been responding beautifully this entire time. It was just responding to the wrong instructions. Following somebody else’s rulebook was never going to work for you, because that rulebook was never written for you in the first place.

Not for your sleep, your stress, your hormones, your thyroid, your blood sugar, the way your life actually looks on a Tuesday, or the way you’re wired to move through your day. Nobody ever put all of that on one page and asked the only question that actually matters. What is your body trying to say?

You cannot fix a picture nobody has ever bothered to look at. And you have never once been looked at whole.

So picture it going differently. Picture yourself walking into your next appointment already knowing what your symptoms might be pointing to and exactly what to ask for. Calm. Clear. Not apologizing for being there, and not shrinking your list down to the one thing you think you can defend. You ask the real question. You hold your ground. And you walk out actually seen, actually heard, with a real next step instead of a shrug.

That version of you is not a fantasy. She is simply better informed than the one who’s been walking in and folding. Same woman. Different information.

So whatever the last few years have had you believing about yourself, I need you to try this on instead. Your body didn’t file for divorce. It never left. It’s been reaching for you this entire time, in the only language it has, waiting for someone to finally translate.

You were always the expert of your own body. You were just never handed the tools, or the permission, to act like it.

Let’s change that.
